BofA Rewards tiers (formerly Preferred Rewards)

Bank of America renamed Preferred Rewards to BofA Rewards and re-tiered it during 2026. Most pages across the web still describe the old ladder — Gold, Platinum, Platinum Honors, Diamond — and people still search "Preferred Rewards," but that structure no longer exists on Bank of America's current pages. The old $50,000 Platinum line is gone entirely: $30,000 and $99,000 now receive identical benefits under Preferred Plus.

What counts toward it: Bank of America deposit accounts and Merrill investment accounts, combined. How it is measured: Combined average balance of qualifying accounts, calculated on the third business day of each month.
Not established: The program was renamed from Preferred Rewards and re-tiered during 2026, and the old $50,000 Platinum line no longer exists — $30,000 and $99,000 now receive identical benefits. The published tier table no longer mentions a savings rate booster; whether one was removed or simply lives on a page not read here is not established, so nothing is claimed either way.

What counts, and how it is measured

BofA Rewards counts Bank of America deposit accounts and Merrill investment accounts, combined, and measures them as a combined average balance calculated on the third business day of each month — a snapshot early in the month, not an average across every day in it.

The three rungs

Preferred Plus starts at $30,000, Preferred Honors at $100,000, and Premier at $1,000,000. Between $100,000 and $1,000,000 nothing new unlocks — the widest dead zone in the ladder, and the reason somebody with $150,000 and somebody with $900,000 get the same card.

What Bank of America does not publish

The current BofA Rewards tier table no longer mentions a savings rate booster that the old Preferred Rewards structure had. Whether it was removed outright or simply lives on a page not read here is not established, so nothing is claimed either way.
